The Ainslie Football and Social Club renovations are complete and all the hard work has definitely paid off. It’s Limestone dining precinct, consisting of a restaurant, bar and café, is arguably the star of the revamp – and the most anticipated one at that.

The brand-new Limestone kitchen offers casual dining at its best, with a variety of options available and all in the one convenient destination. There is ample plush seating and private areas which are perfect for any occasion – birthdays, large functions, date nights, family dinners or catch ups with old friends, Limestone is a hidden gem when it comes to celebrating or gathering.

The menu is a crowd pleaser, with fresh and exciting meal options and the club favourites that we all know and love. There’s also the Limestone Fusion menu of a collective of five dishes, which allows its chefs to showcase their creative Asian-inspired flair.

Forming a large part of the menu is Limestone’s selection of traditional and gourmet pizzas. A stand-out is the Chorizo and Prawn Pizza, scattered with colourful mouth-watering toppings. The tomato base is evenly spread across a crispy dough that’s just the right thickness, and is the perfect foundation for a marriage of mozzarella, cherry tomatoes, chorizo, chilli and garlic marinated tiger prawns. It’s sprinkled with shallots, balsamic glaze and freshly shaved parmesan cheese – a classic, failsafe combination for pizza lovers.

For something on the lighter side you can’t go past the Smoked Atlantic Salmon Salad with baby spinach leaves mixed with quinoa, chickpeas, tomato, cucumber and feta cheese. This gluten-free dish is finished with a smoked paprika dressing, which reinforces the rich and smoky flavour of the salmon. Enjoy the salad on it’s own and let the ingredients speak for themselves, or if you’re dining with friends why not have it as a side to a delicious Limestone feast, which was exactly what we did!

The most anticipated dish to come to our table was the Prawn Laksa, a top pick from Limestone’s Fusion menu. Tiger prawns, fish balls and vermicelli rice noodles bath in a spicy curry and coconut broth soup, then garnished with bean sprouts, fresh chilli, coriander and fried onions. The aroma of the bountiful bowl was enough to whisk us straight to the streets of Asia – it’s vibrant colour lured us in and it was love at first bite. The perfect balance of heat and creaminess, we’re calling it now, this is one of the best laksas in town.

If laksa isn’t you’re thing but you’re still after an authentic Asian dish, the Fusion menu also offers Pad Thai, Nasi Goreng, Beef and Vegetable Stir Fry and Burmese Pork Curry. So take your pick! Any choice is a sure-please.

To top it all off, the Limestone menu boasts quite an impressive chargrill steak selection. Ordering your steak is easy; select your cut, decide how you’d like it cooked (always medium-rare of course!), choose your sauce and add on some tasty sides. All grill items are made to order and include golden battered onion rings. We were treated to the 250g Eye Fillet with mushroom sauce and sides of chips, onion rings and salad. A nod to the perfect Aussie steak, this dish will sure please even the fussiest of meat lovers.

All Limestone beef is sourced locally and produced from quality-bred, grain-fed and hormone-free cattle. By ensuring only the best practices for its beef, Limestone delivers a full flavoured product for the ultimate dining experience and you can taste the superiority of this philosophy on the plate.

With club favourites, vast pizza options, chargrill steak selection and authentic Asian Fusion menu, Limestone at Ainslie is perfect for foodies wanting a quiet escape, quick bite to eat, or memorable dine-in experience.
