The artistry of Greece returns to Palace Electric Cinema this week, from Thursday 17 to Sunday 20 November. The national touring festival is only showing it’s best and uplifting films in Canberra, plus a rare showing of a cinematic classic.

Presenting a selection of six stunning films, this year’s program is filled with love, laughs, politics and tragedy. Immerse yourself in Christopher Papakaliatis’ dramatic tales of love in Worlds Apart and What If. For two completely different perspectives on the relationship between Greece and Germany, there’s the suspense of One Breath or the feel-good comedy Highway to Hellas. Finally, delve into the rise of radical left party Syriza in This Is A Coup, and finish the festival with Costa-Gavras’ Z which screened last year at Cannes as part of their showcase of film classics.

To celebrate Opening Night, filmgoers will be treated to entertainment by accomplished Greek musician George Doukas and his band Aegean Groove from Sydney, as well as local dance troupe Canberra Hellenic Dancers. Food and drink will be catered by Monster Kitchen and Bar. The Greek Film Festival in Canberra is proudly presented by MG Cultural Program and Hellenic Club.
