In the words of Lizzo from her anthem Fitness I been sweatin’. Oh child, summer is so close you can almost taste it and we’re all out here working on that summer body. In addition to eating right and working out I’ve been exploring other options to be good to my body.

Enliven Infrared Saunas is Canberra’s first and only dedicated infrared sauna studio. Director Jill Gray believes that wellness is the key to living life to its fullest. “Physical exertion, work demands and stresses can impact our ability to find balance and happiness in our busy lives. Our aim is to help you restore your mind and body.”

Jill’s studio located in Phillip has three infrared saunas. The first a two person booth fit with chromotherapy lights. The second studio has a three person intense heat infrared sauna and finally a third fit out with a lay down one person sauna that’s great for relaxation and focusing on lower back and leg muscle rejuvenation. The heat from Infrared saunas is commonly used to relieve tension and muscle pain. Working by penetrating joints, muscle tissue and increasing circulation and speeding up the flow of oxygen. By reducing soreness on nerve endings and helping the body heal.

Discussing with Jill our focus for the event was detoxification, weight loss and relaxation her recommendation was that my fiancé and I give the intense heat three person sauna a go and have a little extra room. The session lasted for 45- minutes during which we decided to trial the various chromotherapy lights. Chromotheraphy uses colours on the visible spectrum to balance bodily vibrations and bring them up or down to frequencies that improve your health and wellbeing. Different colours give different effects. After thirty minutes of a fading sequence between all six colours we decided to focus fifteen minutes on blue to promote relaxation. The blue spectrum exhibits tranquilising qualities to relieve headaches, migraines, stress, nervous tension, stomach pains, muscle cramps and others. For the final fifteen minutes we selected yellow. Yellow light is proven to purify skin, strengthen your nervous system, assist with metabolism as well as assist with glandular diseases. Other lights available are purple to clear brain fog, red which raises your blood pressure and produces energy. Orange to intensify enthusiasm and eliminate localised fat and green which creates a positive calming effect and regenerative stimulation.

The feeling of warmth created from infrared is very comfortable after our session our bodies felt revitalized, detoxified and relieved of any lingering muscle tension or soreness from working out. Entering with a focus on sweating, weight loss and detoxing it was an added bonus to us to feel how fresh and rejuvenated our skin complexions were. When discussing this with Jill and thanking her for our session she further explained  that the therapy also increases collagen production which reduces wrinkles and improves your overall skin tone.

Take time out for yourself to relax, rejuvenate and heal. Enliven Infrared Saunas is located Unit 3/61 Dundas Court, Phillip. Book a session with Jill via [email protected] and tell them Jay sent you.
