There’s plenty to see and do in Canberra as the working week draws to a close – here’s our pick of the top 10 events this weekend.

1. Grapest 5K Run…Sip Happens – Saturday 2 December

Who said you can’t drink win and exercise?  The Grapest 5K Run…Sip Happens is a fun run with a difference.  Take a 5km or 10km run at your own pace, and finish off with a 1km wine-tasting walk to cool down – it’s a race like no other! 2. Sunset Cinema – Friday 1 and Saturday 2 December

As the sun sets, the films roll at IMB Sunset Cinema this summer. Friday is one for the kids, with Lego Movie: Ninjago, while Saturday is blockbuster night with Blade Runner 2049 screening under the stars. MORE INFO

3. The Commons Street Feast – until Sunday 10 December

Food, glorious food!  2016’s inaugural The Commons Street Feast saw more than 50,000 Canberrans descend upon Commonwealth Park to indulge in a range of delicious nosh. The 2017 event features an array of new vendors, as well as some popular stalls from last year. It’s free entry and is open for dinner every night and from midday on weekends. MORE INFO

4. Christmas Carnival in The City – Friday 1 to Sunday 3 December

Christmas is coming! To celebrate, In The City Canberra are bringing this year’s ‘Christmas Carnival In The City’ to Garema Place, City Walk and Petrie Plaza, from 12pm till late on December 1, 2 and 3. Christmas Carnival In The City is sure to be a great day out for the whole family, with a range of carnival attractions to enjoy, from dodgem cars to a sideshow alley! The city will be transformed into a Christmas wonderland, complete with a roving Santa, candy canes, Christmas lights, and tinsel – so exciting! MORE INFO

5. Dendy’s birthday – Sunday 3 December

Dendy Canberra is offering $5 movie tickets and $10 premium lounge tickets all day on Sunday to celebrate their 11th birthday.  There will also be loads of activities during the day, including live entertainment, face painting and balloon twisting for the kids and a birthday cake. MORE INFO

6. Men’s Biz – Friday 1 to Sunday 3 December

The Australian Centre on China in the World invites you to the Taiwan Film Festival this weekend. The festival offers a diverse program of feature films and documentaries and is showing at Fellows Lane at The Australian National University. MORE INFO

8. Paperbark Treehouse – all weekend

Take a trip to the Australian National Botanic Gardens this weekend and check out a public artwork that you’re actually encouraged to climb on.  The Paperbark Treehouse is two-storey high and an interactive artwork that will delight the kids.  The Australian National Botanic Gardens is open from 8.30am to 5pm every day. 9. Behind the Lines – all weekend

Are you a politics junkie?  Glued to Q&A every Monday? End all your tweets with #auspol? If so, Behind the Lines: The Year’s Best Political Cartoons 2017 is the fix you’re after. The new exhibition showcases Australia’s best cartoonists as they poke their tongues at every intrigue and issue, from campaign funding to climate change.  The Museum of Australian Democracy at Old Parliament House is open every day from 9am to 5pm. 10. Murrumbateman Winery – Saturday 2 December

There’s a special Christmas event just for you and your four-legged friend!  Local wine dogs Mollie and Tannin are hosting a Christmas Party for canines at Murrumbateman Winery on Saturday 2 December.  The event is sure to be a howling good time, with Mollie and Tannin organising dog treats, a lucky dip and a special visit from Santa Paws.  The humans don’t miss out either, with food platters and wine available.
