International Blues Music Day – Saturday 7 August

Canberra Blues Society is celebrating International Blues Music Day with eleven soulful acts. Fired Up Winter Festival – Saturday 7 August

Get fired up about clay this winter with the ceramic experts from Canberra Potters during the Fired Up festival. From 3-8pm Canberra Potters’ resident artists will throw open their studios and welcome visitors into the makers world and offer opportunity to purchase original artwork. In addition, they will be hosting a pop-up mini market and retail shop, offering ceramic wares, jewellery, decorative items, tasty food and live music. There is even the opportunity to buy a handmade pottery bowl and have it filled with delicious warming homemade soup for free. Visitors will also have the opportunity to engage in pre-booked user experiences such as their popular ‘Have a Go, Have a Throw’ event where visitors get to try making objects on a pottery wheel, or through their ‘Raku Firing’ where visitors are able to glaze pre-made ceramic sculptures and watch them get fired in the kilns. Treat yourself to a lovely afternoon high tea at Parliament House’s Queen’s Terrace Café and enjoy a selection of savoury and sweets made by in-house by the pastry team using regional seasonal produce.
