Between June and August every year, Canberra’s doorstep turns into a foodie haven of the rare and aromatic black truffles, and we want everyone to get their taste. Straight from the oak or hazelnut trees of various farms around ACT and southern NSW, the prized gems are grown, harvested and sent to Canberra’s restaurants. Where they are then grated or sliced into signature dishes, menus, cooking classes and chef demonstrations.

Supplying our participating Canberra Truffle Trail venues with delicious black truffles, our local growers are where it all happens and are the ones who make it possible.

Blue Frog Truffles

Harvesting black truffles from their Sutton farm since 2007, Blue Frog Truffles work closely with some of the best restaurants in Canberra during truffle season. Growing under oak and hazelnut trees, the farm now stretches 4.5 hectares. Owners Wayne Lanie and son Justin Haslam are strong supporters of the Australian truffle industry, playing an active role in each season by providing delicious quality truffles to restaurants, running regular hunts and their involvement in a number of associations and festivals.

In our Canberra Truffle Trail, you’ll find Blue Frog Truffles in Walt & Burley’s truffle dinner, Joe’s Bar’s truffle pizza and Brunello’s Wednesday truffle degustation.

Pialligo Truffles

One of Canberra’s closest truffle farms, Pialligo Truffles is a boutique family-owned and operated farm home to over 800 truffle trees producing delicious black truffles between June and September. Selling to the general public and supplying to restaurants, Pialligo Truffles also produce their own products available for purchase. This includes truffle oil, salt, risotto, aioli and mustard.

In our Canberra Truffle Trail, you’ll find Pialligo Truffles at Wilma, available to be shaved onto any dish you wish.
