The Canberra Truffle Trail

As we brace the cooler climate and settle into another cold Canberra winter, OutInCanberra is getting excited for another delicious truffle season! Between June and August every year, Canberra’s doorstep turns into a foodie haven of the rare and aromatic black truffles, and we want everyone to get their taste.

Straight from the oak or hazelnut trees of various farms around ACT and southern NSW, the prized gems are grown, harvested and sent to Canberra’s restaurants. Where they are then grated or sliced into signature dishes, menus, cooking classes and chef demonstrations.

If you’re a truffle advocate or are yet to taste what all the fuss is about, join us on a delicious trail around the city as we make winter a truffle celebration. And don't forget to check back as other restaurants jump on our trail. Or if you’re a venue who’s using truffles, don’t forget to register below.

  • Scampi & Truffled Mascarpone Ravioli

    BRUNELLO

Artfully executed with exceptional taste, we often find ourselves drawn to a truffle and pasta combo, especially when the team at Brunello’s are behind it. Immersing themselves in everything truffle, Brunello has created a five-course truffle degustation that is set to change regularly. As part of the menu, they showcase a scampi and truffled mascarpone ravioli with aromatised beurre noisette and fresh Blue Frog Truffles. Light, perfectly delicate and a true crowd-pleaser, pair it with a glass of Chablis and you can thank us later!

    Available every Wednesday until mid-August.

  • Tartufo Pizza

    JOE’S BAR

Killing the pizza game with that authentic Italian flare, Joe’s Bar is breaking in their new wood-fired pizza oven with a truly delectable slice. Using local Blue Frog Truffles from Sutton, they throw roast potato, truffle brie, rosemary and truffle onto their unbeatable crispy base to create the Tartufo Pizza. A cheesy, salty and earthy masterpiece. Paired with a glass of Lerida Estate ‘Cullerin’ Chardonnay for $35, pizza and wine at Joe’s just got even more enticing.

Available until the end of August.

  • Hot Smoked Char Sui Pork Belly, Peanuts, Chilli & Truffle

    WILMA

Filling the restaurant with the heavenly smells of fresh black truffles, Wilma’s Asian-style menu might not be the first restaurant you’d think of when seeking out your winter truffle hit, but somehow it just works. Sourcing truffles not so far away at Pialligo Truffles, you can now get a generous shaving on their crowd-pleasing hot smoked char sui pork belly. A real melt-in-your-mouth situation, the juicy tender slices of pork have a delicate taste that is uplifted by the nutty combination of the peanuts and truffles, with that well-rounded hint of chilli in the sauce. Putting truffle on just about everything with particular recommendations, upgrade your usual Wilma banquet with glorious shavings of truffle.

Available until the end of truffle season.

  • Truffle Pumpkin Tart, Goats Cheese Mousse, Parmesan Crisp, Smashed Minted Pea’s & Viola Flowers
