Luckily for us, it’s always warm when we finally get to break for holidays – unless, you’re jetting of to Europe for a White Christmas in minus temps! If you’re staying Down Under, click away now, because WE… are in love with Summer. Our must-have guide is all about being comfortable while soaking up that December/January sun!

I must say, I have now mastered the art of packing light, but it did take years of practice. There were many ‘What to Pack’ and ‘What Not to Pack’ lists, and plenty of ‘DO NOT PACK EVER AGAIN!’ mental notes.

Here are some holiday must-haves before you even think about packing the fourth pair of sandals…

1. KAFTAN
These pieces of material are magic! They’re comfortable, pretty AND they do a great job of doubling as a beach coverup, or an I-ate-too-much-on-Christmas coverup. Perf!

2. A BIG HANDBAG
Excuse the lack of a better word. But it is – plain and simple – a must-have. Your BIG BAG can be any type from a tote to a shoulder bag. If you are flying it’s great for storing your passport, a pair of socks or another pair of shoes if you are going to one extreme condition of weather to another, and even a toothbrush. If you are off to the beach it means you have a cool dry place for your phone, iPod, magazine, sunscreen, water and snacks.

3. WALKING SHOES
You might have planned to put your feet up the whole duration of your holiday, but we all know that relaxing for longer than two weeks straight gets a tad boring, don’t we? Anyway, for all those adventure-seeking, hot-spot loving travellers make sure you have packed a pair of walking shoes to keep those heels happy!

4. A MASSIVE BEACH TOWEL
It’s round, it fits more than one person comfortably AND it doesn’t have to be used at the beach. Take it for a picnic or lounge around in the backyard with a good book, or even use it to belt out some tunes on the guitar (pictured).

5. BEAUTY ON-THE-GO CASE
BB Cream, tinted moisturiser, lip gloss, blush, bronzer and mascara – these essentials all you need to apply for a refresh on that dewy holidaying face of yours.

6. A HAT
To protect your head/face and shoulders (while also wearing sunscreen, of course!) and because they are trendy, and who doesn’t want to look the part right after they’ve stepped in paradise?

Happy Holidaying! Oh, and I completely forgot to mention that packing light means more room for shopping (just don’t tell hubby!).
