What kind of guy wouldn’t want to be thought of as a Stella Fella? The good news is that it’s easy – all you need to do is grab a bow tie and dress up for a night of fine food and drinks at The Loft @ Duxton on Thursday 14 August.

So, what’s it all about?

Well, Stella Fella Day is Friday 15 August, and is designed to raise awareness – particularly among men – of human trafficking and sexual exploitation. Project Futures, a Sydney-based not-for-profit is behind the movement, and aims to combat sexual exploitation and human trafficking. Unfortunately, the assumption this issue is something that occurs overseas, is a wrong one. Sadly, human slavery can be found within many of Australian cities and towns.

It’s hard to believe, but reports are unfortunately far too common about women who have travelled to Australia in the hope of a better life, only to be sold into sexual slavery. It’s important that Australian men stand up to this horrific abuse and put to the fore the values and ideals that we, as a community, hold in esteem and admire in our male friends, colleagues and family members – respect, integrity and a commitment to protect and value women in their lives and the lives of others.

This is what Stella Fella is designed to do: to bring together fine folk to raise the profile of this issue and take a stand against trafficking. A Stella Fella will take the lead and set a precedent of support with zero tolerance for behaviours that can facilitate exploitation in various forms.

So, right now you probably know you’re a Stella Fella, or somebody who certainly is. Great! It’s time to grab that bow tie and a ticket to The Loft @ Duxton and meet other decent types. Ladies, you’re also more than welcome to join the Stella Fella’s in their stance against this issue and, your $45.00 ticket includes canapés and a donation to Project Futures.

It’s a stellar idea! Come on gents – be a Stella Fella and show how much you care about women all over the world.
