This weekend Wind It Up will be taking over Verity Lane and other various locations in Canberra’s CBD for a two-day dance music festival.

Moving beyond the regular festival formula this unique event encapsulates a weekend of workshops, industry discussions and parties uniting industry insiders as well as local and interstate performers.

Join Wax’o Paradiso, Lauren Hansom and Gate Five at Wind It Up’s Verity Lane Party, which will showcase one of Canberra’s most dynamic and least understood spaces. Enjoy the disco and jazz vibes in the eerily atmospheric laneway located in the nation’s heart.

Part party and part music conference the festival sheds light on a changing industry.  Engage, learn and meet new people through insightful panel discussions about the future of dance music, workshops on the prominent art of Djing, event photography and even a promo for your next party. To top it all off, follow your day with a string of parties that are sure to bring your inner raver out and interact with the city in a new, unique and inclusive way.

“Over the last two years, Canberra’s underground dance music scene has grown exponentially. Not so long ago, it was months between parties – now, you often have a choice of three in a weekend, with some of the best in the game behind the decks,” Wind It Up founder Isaac Dugdale says.

Wind It Up is a celebration of the music scene, showcasing some of what our city has to offer, and helping the next bunch of people on their way to start their own projects.

“We’ll be focusing on music on the disco-house-techno spectrum, proudly feminist and inclusive attitudes, and skills that are helpful to those wanting to get involved. We’re hoping that people from different backgrounds will come to the workshops, get to know each other at the parties afterwards and then make good things together. We want to see the whole city on the dance floor.”

As a proud media sponsor, join OutInCanberra on Friday and Saturday 3-4 March, 2017 to showcase and unite dance music in the heart of Canberra.
