Game Masters, Local Heroes event – Friday 17 Jan

Game Masters are hosting another after-hours (kids free) event at the National Film and Sound Archive of Australia (NFSA). The event is from 5pm to 9pm (panel from 6.30pm), with the chance to win SEGA Mega Drive Mini in a friendly tournament. Hear from Canberra gaming legends in a series of lightning-round talks featuring Mark Schramm (Superhot VR), Ed Orman from Uppercut Games, Tejay Fraser-Chittcks (Godfall) and Tony Lawrence from Mighty Kingdom.

End the night on a discussion with Elliot Schultz about the history and aesthetic of the Game Boy handheld console before he presents his artwork for a new game set in Canberra. Community Bush Fire Fundraiser – Saturday 18 Jan

Head to Griffith Oval between 10am-3pm for a market day setup by locals vendors donating their time of product to raise money. From a group fitness session, coffee, cake stalls, BBQ, food trucks, jumping castles, face painting and live music there is lots of ways to have fun and donate. Raffles include Balloon flights, 1 night at Bannisters in Mollymook, beauty vouchers, dinner vouchers, golf day vouchers and so much more! ALL money raised will be donated to the ACT RFS and South Coast communities.

Rain Dance CBR (Bushfire fundraiser) – Sun 19 Jan

From 3-10pm Canberra will be making it rain, featuring: Hands Like Houses, Young Monks, Citizen Kay, Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers & Sputnik Sweetheart. A group of Canberra’s premier artists have come together to create ‘RAIN DANCE’. A night to connect as a community and get your groove on for a good cause at University of Canberra. Everyone involved in the event including all artists and the venue have offered their time free of charge. This means that 100% of ticket sales and donations go directly to our human and animal friends affected by the bushfires via WIRES & NSW RFS.
