Faster: Canberra Youth Theatre (CYT)- Thursday 18 – Saturday 20  October

Canberra Youth Theatre (CYT) presents Faster, an original devised work employing physical theatre and live painting. The piece explores the speed at which our lives move as we journey through adolescence – both externally and internally. Directors Emily Sheehan and Kyle Walmsley have collaboratively worked with the cast who are aged between 14 and 17 years old to create a breathtaking performance that demonstrates the power of the adolescent voice. Scare4Rare Movie Night- Thursday 18 October 

A movie night with a cause at CIT Reid (J Block Theatre) where $10 from every adult ticket goes to Rare Cancers Australia! Enjoy the original Ghostbusters movie, with a free drink – either a beer from Capital Brewing Co, wine from Lake George Winery or soft drink – dessert from Little Billy’s in Weston and complimentary canapes. Dress in your scariest ghost or Ghostbuster costume to win a prize. Event start is 6pm and tickets are $25 per adult (or $30 at the door); $10 for 12-17 year olds; and $5 for kids up to 11 years old. You can buy them here.

Night at the Museum: Toga Party- Friday 19 October

Throw yourself into the world of Ancient Rome with revelry, food and wild entertainment at the National Museum of Australia. Join them for a night of music, art, bars and thrills. Togas optional (clothing required). Over 18s only. Tickets are $25 for pre-sale, $18.50 for Museum Friends, $30 at the door. The event runs from 6-9pm. Special Charity Screening: Ghost Stories- Friday 19 October

Dendy Cinemas is hosting a thrilling cinema event for charity for the film Ghost Stories. Based on the critically acclaimed, record-breaking play, Ghost Stories follows Professor Philip Goodman (Andy Nyman), a renowned sceptic of all things supernatural. Fastfest 2018- Friday 19 October

Canberra’s biggest fashion event of the year is back! FASHFEST will roll out in a series of fashion shows to be held in iconic institutions unique to the capital. The launch show will be at the National Gallery of Australia and will celebrate cocktail glam and elegant gowns. The same show will be held twice the same evening; at 6.30pm and 8pm. Dress to impress with a stunning fashion experience that cultivates modern and emerging fashion, design and creative talent on Australia’s capital stage for the world to see. Niche Markets Launch – Saturday 20 October

Expanding on the Fyshwick Markets, Canberra’s oldest markets and a Canberra institution, the Niche Markets is now home to 40 new specialist traders, with many small local retailers and artisan food providores opening in the new warehouse inspired space. Senator the Hon. Zed Seselja and Senator David Smith and Labor Candidate for Bean will officially open the Niche Markets.

Scavenger Hunt – Saturday 20 October

Secret Cities Canberra Scavenger Hunt starts in Dickson on 20 October at 1pm. Vertikal Indoor Snow Sports Launch- Sunday 21 October 

Vertikal Indoor Snow Sports is excited to announce their Free Spring Carnival to celebrate the launch of their new facility and memberships! Vertikal offers indoor skiing and snowboarding to encourage those who are interested in upgrading their snow sports skills or want to learn from scratch. The Carnival Day will feature live DJ sets, a sausage sizzle, an interactive magic mirror photo booth, face painting, raffle prizes, snow cones, a snow machine, demonstrations, and a variety of children’s games and crafts, among other activities. The day will run from 11am- 3pm and welcomes all to celebrate some alpine-inspired fun!

High Tea Screening: A Star is Born- Sunday 21 October

To celebrate the launch of the anticipated film A Star is Born, Dendy Cinemas is holding a special High Tea at 10am for 10.30am, or 4pm for a 4.30pm screening in the Premium Lounge!
