Is there another form of expression that captures the passion of the human spirit quite like Latin Dance? Be it Salsa, Salsa, Zouk and Bachata, there is a style of dance that will inspire people from all walks of life to get involved in this energetic and fun activity.
This October, the Canberran Latin Dance Festival will bring together dancers, vendors, teachers and students together for two days and three nights of back-to-back workshops, performances and parties.
Highlights of this year’s festival includes the world famous CoboBrothers from the US, including Erin Leger – their lead female dancer. Fans of latin Dance will not want to miss the energetic and explosive Melissa Rosado, otherwise known as ‘The Mambo Princess’. Also hailing from the US, Melissa is world-renowned for her unique, sexy styling and body movement (on and off the dance floor), powerful stage presence, and passionate love for teaching.
Along with the classes and workshops across the two days, the Festival will host two gala evenings – a ‘Suit and Tie’ evening on Saturday 19 October and the Rio Style Evening is on Sunday 20 October
For a bit of fun, and in keeping with the Canberra’s Centenary Celebrations, there will be a special tribute during the Rio Style evening, where dancers will unite on the dance floor for 100 seconds.
The Canberra Latin Dance Festival is very much focused on the joy of participation, so regardless of whether you are an advanced dancer, or simply taking your first tentative steps into the exciting world of Latin Dance, you will be warmly welcomed on to the dance-floor by all those who share your passion. Even if you are simply interested in watching the spectacle, or are part of a participant’s friends or family, you are more than welcome to attend and share in the fun-filled experience.
