Over 120 alpaca-thusiasts came together last week to help raise much needed funds for Booyong Alpacas and other farmers in the Canberra region. Thanks to everyone’s efforts the farm has enough money to stay afloat and feed the alpacas for over six months!

The day was hot with dust in the air, but that didn’t stop people from coming in droves for a true farm experience. Attendees were spoilt with baby chicks, cuddles from Veronica the lamb and Banjo the toy poodle, farm tours, alpaca cuddles and walks, and tonnes of photo ops.

The Booyong Alpaca shop was open for business and a sausage sizzle was offered as a ‘thank you’ to all those that attended. Ainslie IGA kindly donated all sausages, bread, onions, napkins and drinks for the day.

Faye and Keith Whitfield are ‘overwhelmed’ and ‘deeply thankful’ for the support the community showed and hope to welcome more Canberra locals through their gates again soon.

“We loved the opportunity to showcase our beautiful farm and share a little piece of our lives with the community. It was a wonderful day with tremendous energy and excitement,” Faye said.

“Booyong Alpaca extends a huge thank you to the large volunteer crew who proudly wore their ‘Booyong Alpaca’ t-shirts as they gave up their Saturday to make the day a success. And personally thanks OutInCanberra + Ainslie IGA + Rojo Customs & Go Vita Woden for sponsoring our event.”
