It’s time for ACT sports fans to get voting for the 2019 People’s Sporting Champion Presented by Canberra Milk, in recognition of a sportsperson who makes a stellar contribution to our community both on and off the court or field. 

OutInCanberra is incredibly excited to host the 2019 People’s Sporting Champion voting platform, in conjunction with the support from  ACT Government again  partnering with Canberra Milk, who will provide $5,000 worth of sporting equipment to a local school or sporting club.  Vote now to nominate your favourite school or sporting club to be entered into the lucky draw at the conclusion of the voting.

The People’s Sporting Champion Presented by Canberra Milk is a key part of the annual CBR Sport Awards and provides an opportunity for the local community to come together to celebrate the Territory’s excellent sporting teams, clubs and individual sportspeople including athletes, coaches and officials who contribute to our active community life.

Voting is open until Friday 30 August, before the 2019 winner is announced at the CBR Sport Awards Night on Friday 29 November.

In 2018 the award went to Emma Housden, club volunteer and coach from South Tuggeranong Softball Club. Past winners include 2016 – Jarrod Croker, highest point-scorer in Canberra Raiders history and 2017 – Cameron Crombie a champion athlete who has achieved outstanding success for both shot put and javelin in the F38 category for athletes with cerebral palsy.

Canberra has an incredibly diverse and vibrant sporting culture, with sporting clubs spanning from Ultimate Frisbee and hang-gliding to more traditional pursuits such as our high achieving Canberra Raiders, UC Capitals, Canberra United, Giants and Brumbies.
