1. Wintervention

City Renewal Authority, ACT Government and Show Pony Events are bringing Canberra’s most coveted winter attraction, Wintervention back for 2021. Civic Square will once again be transformed into an open-air ice-skating arena from Friday 25 June until Sunday 11 July over the school holiday period. The markets will run across two weekends and will welcome a range of fashion, art, craft and design stalls from local traders. Stars on Ice will also be performing every Friday, Saturday and Sunday. For food, warm up with local favourites Tikka Stand, Neat St. Coffee, La Empanada and Big River Distilling.

2. Canberra Outlet Kidchella

For the hottest winter school holiday event, head to the Canberra Outlet from June 26 to July 11 for their awesome Kidchella event. Get the kids busy with daily activities such as rainbow wands, painting your own cactus cookie, crowns, keychain tassels, DIY tote bags and more! There will also be a ball pit and photo booths, and a fair floss and sparkle stations on weekends.

3. B.FIRM for Kids

Teaching kids the importance of individual and community health and wellbeing, B.FIRM runs a fantastic range of impactful programs that use encouragement and positive influence as tools for change. During these winter school holidays they have an action packed six days of outdoor adventure activities. Join in for battle games and ninja battles with a salmon ladder, spider nest, monkey bars, pirate swings and more!

4. Fantastic Mr Fox Production

Roald Dahl’s classic, Fantastic Mr Fox has burrowed into the Canberra Theatre Centre, dazzling audiences as the characters leap off the page in a mix of digital animation and explosive live stage action. Performing from 8-11 July and created by multi-award-winning theatre company, Shake & Stir, you don’t want to miss the chance to see this tail come to life.

5. Disney Classic Festival

If you’re kids just can’t get enough of Disney, get them out of their PJ’s and take their next movie night out to Dendy Cinema during their three-week Disney Classic Festival. Over three weeks from June 26 to July 11 they will be showing three Disney classics, Aladdin, The Lion King and The Emperor’s New Groove.

6. Pinot & Picasso Kids Sessions

Let their creativity shine through with a guided kids painting session at Pinot & Picasso. In theme with Canberra’s cold winter weather choose from ‘Penguin Pat’, a playful penguin enjoying the snow, or ‘I Scream’, a triple scooped ice cream cone.

7. Sesame Street Circus Spectacular 

See your favourite Sesame Street characters including Elmo, Cookie Monster and Big Bird come to life during a 90-minute circus spectacular, featuring performance from Switzerland, Argentina, Colombia, Morocco, Brazil, Ethiopia and Australia. Then after the show meet with the Cookie Monster himself as he greets and takes photos with fans. Shows will be running from 25 June to August 2 at Mount Majura.
