After a cancelled event in April and missing the usual winter Forage which is always a hit, our favourite seasonal food festival returns.

The street food festival which locals have come to love will be ‘popping up’ with Cellar Door and the Suitcase Rummage at The Dairy Road Markets across the weekend of 4, 5 & 6 December. Dairy Road Market is bringing together local street food from The Forage, wines by Cellar Door and suitcase markets by Suitcase Rummage.

While most the Forage vendors made the pivot online during Covid, a digital space for a food fest didn’t seem like the right fit for the Forage which is centred around bringing the community together.

“Given our core brand objective has always been to deliver a high quality, street food event, we didn’t feel like pivoting online was an option for us.” Forage founder Belinda says. “It’s very hard to capture the essence of a street food festival over the internet! So we waited it out. And now we are back!”

It may not be The Forage you are used to but the event wants to bring Canberrans together to celebrate community and local in a COVID safe way. The event will take place on a smaller scale, though the importance of supporting small food vendors has grown.

The vendor line-up is still being finalised though a mix of hot food, desserts and beverages by some of Canberra’s favourite vendors such as ZAAB, Fricken Chicken, Get Whipped Cheescake Cones, Canberra Distillery and more have been confirmed.

Each day will feature a unique lineup of vendors spread throughout the Dairy Road gardens accompanied by live music. The Dairy Road Market can be enjoyed for 90 minutes at a time. Book in for one of the eleven sessions available over the first weekend of December. Tickets are $8 plus booking fees. Children under 12 are free.

Contact details will be required during registration for contact tracing purposes. The event site will be cleaned and sanitised between each session.
