The launch of Hotel Realm brings more than 5 star accommodation. It brings a new lifestyle to Canberra, sophistication and relaxation.

Epitomizing these traits is the newly launched restaurant located on Realm promenade, Konoba.

A Croatian word meaning ‘cellar bar,’ Konoba is a Mediterranean feast that radiates with the cool minimalist sophistication that features throughout the corridors of Hotel Realm.

With dishes like the grilled lamb loin on pesto eggplant, char grilled asparagus salad and sweetened red capsicum coulis, Konoba is certainly leaving its mark.

The venue has been launched and brought to life with the artistic direction of Austrian born and internationally renowned Executive Chef Christian Heidenreich.

“I have done a lot of exciting things throughout my career and Realm is my 5th hotel opening. Launching a venue means you are the one who puts your stamp on the place and what you have created will always be there, and that’s an exciting thing.”

Chef Christian realised and developed his culinary skills in Austria before jumping ship to work abroad at major hotels in Hong Kong, Phuket and Bangkok.

Chef Christian believes that Konoba can inject a point of difference into the Canberra dining market and the char grill is certainly a unique aspect of what the restaurant offers.

The menu features an extensive list of fresh meat, fish and poultry available to be char grilled, all sourced from Cape Grim, the furthest part of Tasmania.

“Cape Grim is the end of the world. From there is only Antarctica, so the air is fresh and much closer to being free of pollutants. The produce is beautiful.”

Chef Christian leads a multinational and immensely talented team in the kitchen, creating delightfully delicate dishes that have secured Konoba’s spot as a Canberra ‘must try’.
