If you’re in a hurry – or a ‘quickie’, stop by Fyshwick’s newest café Happy Ending for a sandwich and coffee on the go.

Opening its doors this week inside what can only be described as a historical building, Happy Ending will serve up locally roasted coffee and a weekly menu of rotating sandwiches, sweets, pastries and savoury bites.

A new venture between locals and friends, Kent Nhan and Greg Lally of XO and ILY and Frank Iannelli of Alpha Fresh Foods, Happy Ending offers another reason to get excited in Fyshwick.

Highlights of their opening week menu includes a meatball sub handmade by Frank’s mum as well as a cold ‘mac’ sandwich of wagyu pastrami, mac sauce, lettuce and pesto.

Other items include an elevated ham and cheese croissant using provolone cheese and premium pastoral smoked leg ham, a caprese panino and prosciutto panino, and classics like an almond croissant, jam doughnut and sausage roll.

A cheeky play on the building’s past, the name inspiration came from the once iconic night-time destination Lollipop Lounge.

“We wanted to have a bit of fun with the name and the venue, and not shy away from its history,” says Kent Nhan.

“But we also believe it’s a bit of a happy ending for the building as well, which gets to live on in a completely new format. It’s another reason for people to get excited in Fyshwick, and one that we can all enjoy,” he says.

Happy Ending is open Monday to Friday from 6:30am to 2:30pm at 106-108 Gladstone Street, Fyshwick. Follow them on Instagram at @h4ppy.end1ng.
