Party a bit too hard ringing in the New Year …? Not to worry, us too. That’s why we’ve curated a list of the best hangover cures in the city.

When a Panadol and a Gatorade just aren’t hitting the spot, give these guys a crack.

Grease Monkey

First up we have Grease Monkey… where the name speaks for itself.  There’s no hangover cure like something big, hearty, salty, saucy and greasy. The burgers are iconic in themselves, but the Detroit-style pizzas and mac and cheese bites are equally as delish. With locations in Braddon, Gungahlin and Woden, it’s worth dragging yourself out of bed for, otherwise you’ll find them on all of your go-to food delivery services.

Manuka Pool

Lie in the sun, get too hot, roll into the pool, roll back out… repeat. Your body (and soul) will thank you for this one. Manuka Pool is open every day of Summer (excluding Christmas Day) and has both shady and sunny spots with a great little canteen. A bit of vitamin D and a refreshing dip in the pool can work wonders and have you feeling as good as new in no time.

Movie Theatre

If you’re tired and achy after dancing the night away but dying to get out of the house, a date with a new film at the movies can work wonders. Try spending the day in a super dark air-conditioned room in a reclining chair, with endless popcorn and a larger-than-life Coca Cola while watching an epic flick. On second thoughts… a hangover doesn’t actually sound that bad.

Sweat it Out

Bear with me for a second. Next time you find yourself contemplating last night’s decisions, chuck on your sneakers, drain out your thoughts with some good music and get a workout in. Do yourself a favour and release some endorphins by heading on a brisk walk around Lake Burley Griffin and grab a coffee from The Jetty on your way around.

Hair of the dog

If all else fails… try the old, if you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em. Get your hair of the dog fix at Assembly The People’s Pub and try out their ‘Re-assemble morning cocktail’. With a strategic blend of Vodka, Berocca, kombucha and lemonade… I wish you good luck.  Alternatively, Ovolo’s Monster Kitchen and Bar makes a killer ‘Tropical Berocca’ and ‘Wake Me Up Negroni’ to keep the ball rolling.

When it comes down to it… it’s the holidays! Rest, recover and take it easy. Happy New Year!
