Priding themselves on making healthy burgers with wholesome ingredients since day one, Grill’d has been curing our burger cravings without the guilt.

Creating new and bold recipes that align with their healthy attitude, such as their low carb bun and zucchini and avocado chips, they have since stepped up the game with the release of their Healthy Fried Chicken (HFC) bites last year and now the launch of four new HFC burgers onto their menu. But the best part is, they have revealed the recipe to the public to prove there are no secrets or hidden nasties in the Aussie ingredients they use. To put it into context, Grill’d’s HFC Classic contains 67% less sugar than KFC Original Recipe Burger and the HFC BLAT contains 48% less sugar and 26% less saturated fat than a McDonald’s Crispy Chicken Deluxe.

“Some recipes are kept secret for a reason, but not ours. We took the path less travelled and did things the right way. We could have taken short cuts and fried our chicken in Canola oil like the Colonel, but instead we choose to use Australian Extra Virgin Olive Oil which is packed with nutrients and natural antioxidants. It’d be easier to use reconstituted chicken but we prefer to use 100% Natural RSPCA Approved Chicken Breast. The easy way to make our chicken taste better would be to use MSG, like KFC’s Secret Recipe, but instead we use nothing but delicious, natural ingredients that our guests can feel good about,” says Founder Simon Crowe.

Grill’d’s new HFC burger range is now available in all restaurants.

  • HFC Classic: Healthy Fried Chicken with dill pickles, cos lettuce and egg mayo.
  • HFC BLAT: Healthy Fried Chicken with crispy bacon, avocado, cos lettuce, tomato and herbed mayo.
  • HFC Smokey: Healthy Fried Chicken with dill pickles, slaw, Spanish onion and chipotle mayo.
  • HFC Hot: Healthy Fried Chicken with Grill’d Hawthorn hot sauce, jalapenos, slaw, shredded carrot, Spanish onion and egg mayo.

The recipe can be found on the Grill’d websiteInstagram and Facebook. Love burgers? Check out this list we curated earlier about 5 of the best burger joints in Canberra.
