From winter warmers to a decadent dessert, it seems that this week OutInCanberra’s GourMay has hosted it all!

The promotion kicked off on Thursday 1 May with the gorgeous Tonnarelli alla Bottarga from the new Italian sensation, Agostinis in Kingston. A dish of contrasting flavours and textures, the square cut spaghetti combines salt-cured fish roe, garlic, chilli, lemon and parsley for a simple, elegant dish that’s sure to keep you coming back for more!

Kingston was the source of some of Canberra’s finest this week with Mojo Rojo Ribs from Betti Bravo’s and the delicious Chicken Breast Stuffed with Goat’s Cheese and Pistachio from Walt & Burley served on a bed of tomato and basil risotto making it onto the Dish of the Day reel.

On Thursday we sampled a little Asian fare from Lonsdale Street newbie Lazy Su with the Bossam Noodle Soup. This dish is not only colourful but is chock-full of flavour, depth and a lively hit of spice. Continuing with the Asian theme, today we present the sinfully sweet Pineapple and Banana Fritters from the new and improved pop-Chinese menu at Natural Nine.

Duck played a particular favourite for NewActon’s Bicicletta as they showcased the instagramable, tasty Smoked Duck and Quail Egg Salad, matched perfectly with a glass or two of the 2016 Gallagher Chardonnay. Helix Bar & Dining followed suit with the gorgeous Confit Duck accompanied by a beetroot puree, market vegetables and a five-spice caramel.

Chifley’s Bar & Grill and the Courtyard at Mercure showcased lamb as the hero of their hearty dishes – perfect for the cold weather. Chifley’s took an Irish root with its slow-cooked Guinness Braised Lamb Shoulder, while Courtyard presented the Herb Crusted Lamb Loin with handmade ravioli on a bed of beetroot and lentil ragu.

Yesterday Barton’s finest, Buvette Bistro & Wine Bar presented a modern take on a French classic, the Wagyu Beef Bourguignon. Combining all the traditional flavour in a new innovative fashion, Executive Chef Fabien suggested three red wine varieties to complete the culinary experience of the dish.

This week we also introduced two amazing GourMay events to really immerse Canberra foodies into the true spirit of GourMay 2017. These include a Brew-Matched Degustation at Courtyard and a Pizza and Aperol Spritz Class at Bicicletta.

Tickets are running out the door fast for these exclusive events so make sure you buy your tickets today to get involved in GourMay 2017 before the month ends!
