Canberra Wine Industry Association ignites the 2020 Fireside Festival running from August 14 – 30 across Canberra region vineyards, cellar doors and restaurants. The festival couldn’t have come at a better time with locals looking to holiday in Canberra and enjoy rich, educational experiences.

The theme for this year’s program of events is ‘Fuel your inner fire with our Liquid Geography’ to give rise to how even in the midst of our cold winters in Canberra, our wines can fire your imagination.

This festival is all about rugging up in your puffer jackets, beanies and boots on and showing the Canberra Wine district some much-needed love.

The Fireside Festival is an introduction to what’s hot this winter in Canberra District wines. Events spread across Canberra, Hall, Murrumbateman, Yass, Bungendore, Lake George, Wamboin, Gundaroo and Collector each with their own winter warming twist.

The Canberra region is famous for its quality cool climate wines showcasing the local terroir and innovation of our winemakers. Find yourself in front of a roaring fire learning about the region’s diverse styles from Sangiovese to Riesling, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Shiraz and the different micro-climates from the winemakers themselves.

Food is a big part of the festival tying into the theme of warming locals from the inside out. Explore the regions produce intertwined with wine pairings and countryside hospitality.

Fan your creative fire at art exhibitions and poetry readings by local writers. The Fireside Festival is not just about wine and food. It’s about having a conversation with inspirational people by the fireside or a series of musical experiences for the ultimate winter music sesh, all while snuggled into an oversized chair with a glass of Pinot Noir.

The highlight event is a wine glass 101 with a lot of wine and even more food. Presented by Matt Dunne, top Australian Sommelier who will be holding a Plumm Glassware tasting session.
