Various groups who utilise the lake are once again organising a Clean-up Lake Burley Griffin Day for their 4th year. Just in time for National Recycling Week, this year’s event will take place on Sunday 14 November from 9am to 12pm.

Last year, volunteers on foot, dragon boat, kayak, canoe, rowing tinnies and stand-up paddle boards did their part to collected over 100 bags of rubbish plus a number of plastic and industrial items that were too large to fit into the bags.

“With more people enjoying the outdoors and Lake Burley Griffin during this pandemic, we hope they appreciate this amazing resource even more. This event is a great way for people give back by giving LBG a good clean!” said Clean-up Coordinator, Tammy Ven Dange.

Registration sites will be in four locations around the lake; Burley Griffin Canoe Club, Weston Park, Black Mountain Peninsula and Capital Lakes Rowing Club for participants to sign-up. Volunteers are also required to bring work gloves and wear enclosed shoes.
