As autumn leaves take over the capital, Canberra Centre is inviting locals to embrace the season’s slower pace with a series of hands-on workshops designed to celebrate creativity, culture, and connection – just in time for Mother’s Day!
Running throughout May and into June, the Autumn-Winter Workshop Series offers a program of experiences where you can make meaningful gifts, learn new skills, and spend quality time with loved ones. Whether you’re creating with Mum or crafting a surprise for her, these sessions offer something special for every age and interest.
At the heart of the series are Mother’s Day Gifting Workshops, held across the weekend of 3-4 May. Highlights include Woven Earrings with Wiradjuri Artist Jessika Spencer, Celtic Heart Necklace with Michele England, and DIY Charm Jewellery with The Charm Studio. All sessions include materials and are designed to be beginner-friendly and enjoyable for ages 7 and up.
Looking to refresh your winter style? The Winter Beauty & Style Workshops will be on from 9-10 May and are led by experts to help you feel your best as the season shifts. Join Oz Hair & Beaty for a Styling Masterclass to perfect signature looks, or explore the art of scent layering ay David Jones Fragrance Masterclass.
To close out the season, join Ross Spencer on 31 May or 1 June for a hands-on session painting handcrafted boomerangs. As you create, you’ll learn about Aboriginal symbolism and cultural storytelling – a unique and meaningful way to connect with First Nations heritage.
Spaces are limited. View the full program and book your workshop here.
