Committing to planning a native Australian tree for every goal kicked across the AFL and ALFW GSW GIANTS 2023 season, Capital Brewing Co. has kick-started their ‘Trees For Tomorrow’ initiative for another year.

Starting by planting a tree for every Capital Brewing Co beer purchased in the Snowy Mountains during the ski season, they are determined the reach their target of planting 5000 trees.

“The opportunity to partner with the GIANTS really kick-starts this year’s campaign. They’re a key partner of ours and having the ability to reach the growing membership base of the GIANTS & AFL fans around the country with this environmentally friendly message is so valuable for us,” says Capital Brewing Co’s Co-Founder and Managing Director, Laurence Kain.

“This year we’re planning on reaching our target of planting 5000 trees in total – a target we set when we launched the initiative in 2021. Since then, we have planted a total of 2036 trees, so we are well on our way to achieving our goal in 2023.”

Alongside goal kicking, extra trees will also be committed for special milestone moments expected to take place across the season through individual players and the club.

Last year, the GIANTS AFL AND AFWL teams kicked a combined 274 goals, but with a new head coach at the helm, they’re expecting to knock that number out of the stadium this year.

GIANTS star forward Harry Himmelberg has endorsed the initiative, giving him extra incentive to try and smash out the goals this season.

“The Kick A Goal, Plant A Tree program means we’ll plant a native Australian tree for every goal kicked by our teams across the season so you can be sure I’ll be trying to kick as many as possible!” He says.

If you want to help out this fabulous initiative, Capital Brewing Co will be hosting their annual Planting Day in October which will see the brewery staff, GIANTS players, environmental charity Keep It Cool and members of the public get together to plant the trees and then celebrate with a BBQ and a couple of cool beers.

Capital Brewing Co will also look to roll out their original ‘Buy Beer, Plant Trees’ program across participating bottle shops and pubs, expanding it beyond the Snowy Mountain region and into metro NSW in partnership with participating customers.
