There are few chores less inspiring than the Sunday grocery run. It’s the last day before the work week kicks off again, and all you really want to do is relax, have a cold beer and pretend Monday isn’t coming. 

But thankfully, the team at Capital Brewing Co has set out to make the weekly chore a whole lot more enjoyable. 

They’ve teamed up with local online grocer Alpha Fresh to launch Pints & Produce, a weekly Sunday pop-up where you can sort your fruit and veg while enjoying a beer and some live acoustic music. 

 

 

The $40 Produce Challenge 

At the heart of the Sunday session is the $40 Alpha Box. 

The rules are simple: grab a box, fill it with as much seasonal fruit and veg as you can, and make sure the lid closes. That’s it. 

No weighing or scanning. No standing behind someone trying to find loose-leaf spinach on the self-checkout screen. 

It’s also a rare chance to browse Alpha Fresh in person, choose your own produce and have a chat while you’re at it. There’ll be recipe cards on hand too, just in case you pick up something unfamiliar or need some inspiration.  

 

Make an Afternoon of It 

You can grab a burger, enjoy a beer and make an afternoon of it, with face painting on the day adding something fun for the kids too. 

And if you need another reason to stick around, there’s a Harvest Raffle running every hour from 1pm to 4pm. Buy an Alpha Box or spend more than $20 at the bar, and you’ll go in the draw to win prizes including Alpha Fresh vouchers, Capital Brewing Co beer and merch. 

The only catch? You’ll need to be there to claim it, so maybe don’t wander too far! 

 

Click, Collect and Crack One Open 

If you already order from Alpha Fresh, you can also make Sunday your new pick-up day. imply order your groceries online during the week, choose the Fyshwick taproom as your Sunday collection point, then turn the errand into a very reasonable excuse for a cold one.
