We don’t want to alarm you, but this Thursday 13 May is World Cocktail Day (yay) and to celebrate we have put together our list of the best cocktails in Canberra and most importantly, where to get them. It would be rude to not end Thursday with a cocktail in hand…

Raku

Creating Japanese style cocktails that bring out flavours of yuzu, lychee, kaffir lime and mandarin, explore Raku’s experimental cocktail menu. We recommend the ‘Yuzu Sour’ with mandarin infused gin, yuzushu, grapefruit, thyme and ginger syrup. Or for something savoury try their bloody Mary style oyster shots!

Zaab

Head to Zaab for an unbelievable cocktail selection featuring signatures, house favourites, light and easy, flights and even a negroni list. With so many likely to take your interest, you won’t be able to stop at just one. From their signature list the ‘Eastside Duo’ with gin, elderflower, mint, basil, lemon, peach and passionfruit is a must! And from the light and easy selection try the Jasmine Tonic with gin, elderflower, house-made jasmine tonic, strawberry, lychee, cucumber and lime.

The Highball Express

Specialising in rum, the team at Highball are experts at creating crafty tropical-themed cocktails. Open late, tick them off your bar crawl list with friends and share boozy punch bowls, or ask for their legendary zombie cocktail and watch it come to life.

Parlour

Whether there for a long Sunday lunch or late-night drinks, a cocktail from Parlour is a must have. With both classic and house cocktails that complement their tapas style food, it won’t be long before you’re calling the waiter over for another. Try ‘The Little Cuban’ with spiced rum, apricot liqueur, lime and pineapple juice, vanilla and Angostura bitters.

Lazy Su

Regularly working on creating new cocktails, Lazy Su is all about experimenting with different flavours and techniques. Often with Japanese influence, try one of their cocktail specials before they go, or one from their permanent menu. Sip on ‘Su-Lagoon Fizz’ with pina colada gin, marionette blue curacao, vanilla, pineapple syrup, citrus, topped with sparkling sake, we promise you won’t be disappointed.

QT Canberra

Releasing their own flavoured gin in collaboration with Four Pillars Gin, QT have a passion for shaking up liquid gold. While they have other cocktails, get their ‘Ordered Chaos Gin’ cocktails while they are available. ‘Room Service Rickey’ finished with Campari, grapefruit soda and lime is our favourite!
