Cellar Door – NewActon – Saturday

Cellar Door is a new market for Canberra’s wine scene. Buy wines from local makers every Saturday afternoon in the iconic Nishi Grand Stair at the NewActon Precinct. Grab a souvenir glass, taste the latest drops, and buy at cellar door prices. Wine stalls rotate each week, with stallholders including Idyllic Hills, Sholto Wines, Contentious Character and Gundog Estate, with complementing stalls like flowers, cheese, chocolate and books.

Northeast House Party – Molo Live – Friday

High-energy party starters Northeast Party House have moved on from warehouse parties to national festival closers. Northeast have built a loyal fan base around two self-produced, guitar-driven, dance-heavy LPs which have seen the band tour constantly in Austrlaia as well as internationally, playing sold out headline shows and showcase events at The Great Escape (UK), CMJ (NY) and Culture Collide (LA). See the band at MOLO Live, the hot new venue at the ANU Pop-Up Village. So Fine – National Portrait Gallery – all weekend

Sisters are doing it for themselves – and the arts world – at the National Portrait Gallery with the latest exhibition So Fine: Contemporary women artists make Australian history. The curators developed the exhibition to enhance the contemporary narrative around Australia’s history and biography, putting women in the spotlight and reflecting on the past with fresh new female orientated perspective. Papillon Unplugged – La Petit Grande Theatre – until Sunday

Papillon Unplugged, a spectacular and debaucherous show of cabaret and comedy is turning the traditional circus on its head in Canberra. Papillon is a sophisticated, sexy, funny and energetic adult circus cabaret that is so much more than what you expect – a humorous, fast-paced show from start to finish. Canberra Winter Ski Markets – Fitters Workshop – all weekend

If you’re hitting the slopes this ski season, head along to the Canberra Winter Ski Markets, a pop-up store for all your ski wear.  You’ll get beanies and gloves from $5, handwarmers from $1, as well as fleece tops, ski jackets, ski pants and helmets.  The shop’s only open for a limited time, so make some time this weekend before you head for the snow.

Timomatic – The Street Theatre – Sunday

Canberra’s own multi-platinum entertainer Timomatic will conclude his National Regional Tour right here in his home town. Timomatic has conquered many milestones through his multi-faceted career, from dancer to recording artist to attaining a Logie nomination as a TV personality. He has received special guest invites to perform alongside global acts such as Nicki Minaj, Pitbull, Jessie J, Flo Rida, Salt N Pepa, Jason Derulo and David Guetta. Supporting Timomatic will be artists and dancers from Legs Dance Studio, Elevate Academy and Kulturebreak.

Whitney Club Preview – Dendy Canberra Centre – Sunday

Whitney Houston broke more music industry records than any other female singer in history. With more than 200 million album sales worldwide, she was the only artist to chart seven consecutive U.S. No. 1 singles. She also starred in several blockbuster movies before her brilliant career gave way to erratic behaviour, scandals and death at the age of 48. Whitney by filmmaker Kevin Macdonald is an intimate, unflinching portrait of Houston and her family, that probes beyond familiar tabloid headlines and sheds new light on the spellbinding trajectory of Houston’s life. Truffle Hunt and Masterclass – Turalla Truffles – Sunday

This is a rare opportunity to learn all things truffle from a chef who has had a huge amount of experience with our local truffles. Start the day with a truffle hunt where you’ll learn how to harvest these amazing fungi. Then you’ll warm up in the Turalla Truffle shed while Chef Andrew Haskins takes you through the hands on process of preparing and cooking with the truffles we find. Andrew makes the cooking truffle experience accessible to everyone with the Truffle Masterclass. Class numbers will be kept to a minimum to make the experiment intimate and yes you get to eat everything you make!
