With school holidays fast approaching, scrambling for ideas to entertain the kids during the lead up to Christmas can become a bit of a headache. Easing your pain as usual, the Canberra Outlet has got kids covered, launching a Children’s Christmas Cinema while also raising money for the Stella Bella Little Stars Foundation. From Saturday 4 to Friday 24 December, come along and drop the kids off to experience a little Christmas magic, with sessions playing daily at 10am and 12pm screening all your favourite kids Christmas movies, including Home Alone, Elf and The Grinch.
For that last-minute Christmas shopping, this is the perfect opportunity to ‘shop and drop’ and get it all done quickly without the kids. With all movies supervised and snacks and drinks provided.
“The past few months have been particularly trying for children and their parent’s, so we wanted to create something truly magical for both,” says Canberra Outlet Centre Manager Claire Read.
“We want to give parents the peace of mind that their children are being entertained in a safe environment, allowing them the freedom to shop without restraint for at least an hour.”
Cinema sessions allow 20 children per screening and are $5 a ticket, including snacks and drinks. All proceeds will also go to the Stella Bella Foundation, a local charity brightening the lives of seriously ill children and their families run by ACT’s 2018 local hero, Suzanne Tunks.
“It’s really important to us to give back to the community and we could think of no more fitting charity to support and continue to spread the Christmas magic than the Stella Bella Foundation,” says Read.
Santa and his little Elf helpers will also be on hand snapping Christmas photos. While a roaming reindeer will keep kids entertained throughout the centre on weekends from 10am to 2pm, with weekdays beginning closer to Christmas. Plus keep a lookout as a Christmas penguin and snowman join the fun, offering candy canes and photo opportunity for all shoppers.
