The 2014 Canberra Nara Candle Festival

Lennox Gardens will again shimmer to life under the light of 2,000 candles as Japanese and Australian cultures unite at the 12th annual Canberra Nara Candle Festival.

This year’s festival celebrates the 21st anniversary of Canberra’s sister city relationship with Nara Japan and is expected to attract more than 10,000 people.

Saturday’s event will feature stunning lighting across the park, and activities which can be enjoyed by the whole family such as ikebana and drumming workshops, calligraphy, origami, lantern making, kite flying, martial arts and sumo wrestling demonstrations.

The Last Stand – Bluejuice at ANU Bar

ANU bar was transformed into a fluoro wonderland in preparation for Bluejuice’s farewell Retrospectable tour, after 14 years together. The stage (including speakers, amps, drums and microphone stands) was awash with pink, yellow and green tape. It was all very reminiscent of the set-up for their 2012 tour, suggesting this was also going to be an insane and messy night all around.
