Over the Easter long weekend, the hottest lineup of local and international DJs and dance acts will rock AIS Arena for Warehouse 2011. This year’s lineup includes Deadmau5, Martin Solveig, Skrillex, Wynter Gordon, and Aussie favourites, Bag Raiders. We had a chat to Bag Raiders in Los Angeles before they pop back into the country for their set…

You’re in the US at the moment – how has your trip been?
It’s been amazing – we’re having a blast. Not a lot of down time so far, but a hell of a lot of airports, planes and hotels.

What’s been your highlight?
So far I think hanging in LA, which is what we’re doing right now. Weather is good, we have friends here, good eating, shopping etc. Also our show here was completely amazing!

Have you had time to do much sightseeing?
Not really unfortunately. But coming up we have a few days off in South America which we’re pretty excited about. We’ll have a few days to explore in Bogota and then again in Mexico. Can’t wait!

Later in the year you head to the UK for a tour, what are you looking forward to over there?
I want to go watch some football games. I’m excited about that!

You’re playing Lovebox festival in London with an absolutely massive lineup – who are you most looking forward to seeing?
Yeah that’s going to be be incredible! Can’t wait! I think we play on the Snoop Dog stage! Not quite sure how that came about but I’m super excited to see him in the flesh.

How does it feel taking your music to the world?
It feels great. I remember last time we came to the US, I think about 2 years ago, things we’re a lot different. More than once we ended up playing to pretty much no one. But now I guess we’ve had another few years of being out there, we have an album behind us, there’s a lot more support and it feels great. I think every show we’ve done so far has been a sell-out so you can’t ask for much more than that!

What’s the biggest difference between touring in Australia and overseas?
Until this tour I would’ve said that in Australia we never really do any bad gigs anymore. Even if they’re not ball-changing, they’re still pretty damn decent. Apart from that I miss coffee badly and I miss Australian airports. For a huge and prosperous county, Americans really haven’t got their heads around air travel yet.

What are Bag Raiders like on the road?
We are pretty good, pretty chilled. We both operate pretty well on minimal sleep so that helps. Also we have similar interests and are both always pretty eager to go out and explore and see new things. So we’re on the same page I guess.

In between the US and UK, you head back to Australia for a string of shows including a slot at Warehouse. What can Canberrans expect from your set?
It’s going to be great to be back in Oz, even if it is only for a week! It’s also going to be great to DJ! We’ve just done a few DJ shows here in LA and it reminds me of how much fun it is! Also people in Australia are great to play music to – very up with it, ready to hear new stuff. So it’s always a pleasure.
