It’s that time again girls: Spring Carnival season. It’s the perfect opportunity to step out of your comfort zone and dress up for the race that stops a nation.

Over the years we have seen many a trend gracing Black Opal Stakes Day and Melbourne Cup Race Day at Thoroughbred Park including classic neutrals, black and white (which we now call monochrome), block-colours, bright colours and patterns all tied in with accessories, high-heels, clutches, fancy hats and fascinators.

This year it’s time to up the style stakes and wear something unique to make a long-lasting fashion statement. Did someone say Myer Fashions On The Field competition?

I am eyeing off floral head pieces and face nets for a super-trendy trackside alternative to the usual hat and fascinator. Don’t be afraid to mix-and-match colours, textures and patterns. Break the ‘rules’ and wear a bright pink dress with a bold red lip. Sure, lots of other women will be opting for high-fashion style for a day at the races, but if you take a punt and put your own personal twist on these items we bet you will be the favourite.

‘Fabulous’ and ‘classy’ are the two words to describe how one should look trackside and it’s so easy to achieve.

I recently spoke with Simone Zappe the owner of super cute local boutique mussen who says “feel free to have fun with this seasons trends, leather, floral, lace trim, patterns such as baroque and colours like bright orange or fuchsia. Embrace the ‘lady like’ glam with a shift dress or a longer hem or go minimal with clean lines and no layering. Make an entrance with beautiful embellishments, beading, embroidery or some well-executed sequins”.

With all the excitement of the Spring Racing season, mussen is giving you the chance to WIN a $100 voucher to spend in store! It’s the perfect opportunity to splurge on a stylish new frock for the upcoming festivities. To enter tell us ‘Who won the Myer Face of Canberra Racing competition in 2012’.
