Let’s face it, weekends are better when smashed avocado is involved. Crunchy toast, creamy avo and gooey poached eggs, what could be better?

Need your fix? We’ve listed our top 5 favourite smashed avos for you to try.

1. Patissez

If you’ve been to Patissez in Manuka you’d know their breakfast menu is far from ordinary and ‘The Avo Standard’ is no exception. Complete with fresh avo and danish feta smash on sourdough with za’atar, pomegranate, poached eggs and lemon, each mouthful is bursting with flavour. A must-try for any avo lover.

2. Arc

If it’s not the Redbrick Coffee, it’s the refined classic brekky menu that keeps locals coming back to Arc. Focusing on local produce, take a seat during avocado season and dig into their Avo on Toast – smashed avo, smoked labneh and seasoned nuts on the perfect toasted sourdough. We recommend adding a side of Pialligo bacon.

4. Two Before Ten

Sustainability is key to how Two Before Ten runs their day-to-day. Utilising fruits and vegetables from the Urban Farm behind their Aranda café, locals can eat a delicious breakfast knowing majority of the produce is grown inhouse or sourced locally. To accompany the much-loved smashed avo, they join it with garden greens from their farm, house-made ricotta, dukkah, herbs and a poached egg. If avocado is not in season, try the smashed beetroot as an alternative, we promise you won’t be disappointed.
