Direct flights from Canberra to Byron Bay
If you’re looking to escape the cold, Canberra Airport has announced regional airline FlyPelican will start flights from Canberra Airport to Ballina from 3 July. Starting from $229 one-way, there will be one flight out of Canberra before 9am each day, arriving in Byron just after 11am; while the return flight will depart Byron at noon. Essentially you can be the north coast beach in just two hours!

Bondi Festival just 3 hours away
Sydney’s all-ages winter festival will get a spring awakening when Bondi Festival returns from 26 September – 10 October after having been rescheduled from July. The 2020 festival has been reimagined, designed to inject arts, culture and a little bit of joy back into visitors. Best of all for us Canberrans, it’s an easy commute that doesn’t involve going through an airport.
Bondi Festival is an arts festival and all-ages adventure zone that erupts into life every year at the world’s most famous beach. Celebrated over 15 jam-packed days the program will feature an assortment of breath-taking performances, laugh out loud shows, immersive experiences, and out-there family fun.
This year’s festival will continue to showcase an incredible arts program, as well as family friendly fun including the Bondi Vista Ferris Wheel and a brand new attraction, the Bondi Roller Rink. Each step through the iconic suburb will unveil new experiences with local businesses and storefronts transformed into temporary theatres for artists to amaze with mind-bending shows.
