Event Recap: David Guetta @ Stage 88

Kicking off the cold season, brave Canberrans faced the music at Commonwealth Park’s Stage 88 for none other than international star David Guetta on Friday May 4.

Supported by Timomatic, Bombs Away and local heroes Rawson and Jared de Veer, multiple Grammy Award Winner David Guetta bought warmth and light to a quiet Canberra Friday night.

Rawson & Jared de Veer got the show on the road and the pair performed a mix of dance inspired, crowd favourite tracks to get things warmed up for the evening.

Entertaining Bombs Away who never disappoint fans, put on a show to remember. Among mixes, teasers and crowd pleasers, Bombs Away delivered a stellar performance with all the favourites. The duo blasted predicted classics including ‘Swagger’, ‘Big Bootie Bitches’ and newest hit (and arguably most popular) ‘Super Soaker’.

Sure to have excited all their ‘Internet Friends’, the star studded DJ’s ripped up the stage with an all in, no shame dance reaction from the icy audience.

After an exciting yet long-winded lead up, freezing fans were huddled between sets waiting to, go- Guetta. Delivering a full production set, Guetta pleased anxious fans with all his latest tunes and most popular selection of dance-floor friendly beats.

Keeping the crowd cosy and making everyone move, Guetta pumped out international hits including ‘Titanium’, ‘Bounce’ and ‘I Got a Feeling’. Not only was an ecstatic crowd brought to the centre of the city on Friday night but an always pleasant David Guetta looked as though he enjoyed the crowds performance as much as they enjoyed his.

A show to remember and the loudest Canberra City will be all winter, David Guetta came, he saw, he conquered.
