Iconic Australian rock band You Am I will headline a huge entertainment lineup as the capital comes to life for New Year’s Eve in the City.

Civic Square will farewell Canberra’s Centenary Year and welcome in 2014 with a family-friendly concert, while Garema Place hosts the high-energy dance party, Bass in the Place.

From 7pm Civic Square will feature one of the country’s most-loved rock bands, You Am I, supported by Canberra artist Alex Gibson – a recent finalist in the hit television series The Voice – and local seven-piece Tuchasoul.

You Am I will take to the stage in the lead up to the first spectacular fireworks show at 9pm, which provides a great opportunity for families to enjoy the early fireworks and party atmosphere.

From 9pm, Bass in the Place will get Garema Place crowds grooving with Adelaide electronic act Uberjak’d and a great line up of local DJs.

State-of-the-art pyrotechnic displays at 9pm and midnight will be a highlight of the evenings’ entertainment, with the fireworks set against specially-produced soundtracks to herald in the New Year.

Canberra’s New Year’s Eve celebrations in Civic Square and Garema Place are alcohol and glass-free events to ensure a safe and friendly atmosphere.

New Year’s Eve in the City is proudly presented by the ACT Government and sponsored by PRIME7, Mix 106.3 and FM 104.7.
