Canberra is about to welcome a fun and fabulous new fitness trend complete with shaky arms and sweaty palms… Well, at least that’s how we welcomed it after hitting the barre for a VIP preview of the celebrity-obsessed workout, Xtend Barre, last week!
Xtend Barre, for those who haven’t heard of it, is a fast-paced fusion of ballet, pilates and cardio. The workouts last for approximately 55 minutes, are centered around a ballet barre and also requires light weights.
The focus is on ‘shaping’ muscles by first increasing strength and then lengthening the muscles through stretching. An array of props like resistance balls, weights and stretch bands keep Xtend devotees on their toes.
To celebrate, the workout was lead by International Ambassador and Master Trainer, Rockell Williamson-Rudder who is a professional dancer and pilates instructor based in Las Vegas. She was a fantastic instructor – it’s no wonder the celebs adore her!
“People love that they are in-and-out in less than an hour and are guaranteed a full body chisel – and stretch.” says Rockell.
Xtend is rewardingly hard work (I won’t bore you with the sweaty details!), but once you complete the workout even though you feel like jelly, you’re also really, really worked and refreshed!
The workout is loved by many a celebrity including Madonna, Demi Moore, Natalie Portman and Drew Barrymore. Margot Robbie credited it as the work out for getting her body in shape for the Wolf of Wall Street and Teresa Palmer said she practiced it up until days of giving birth. Aussie ladies loving the workout include Sarah Murdoch, Jennifer Hawkins, Sam Armytage and Erica Heynatz are all regulars and if they are anything to go by, well, you should definitely check it out!
Excitingly, the Canberra studio, which will be based on London Circuit in the City, officially opens in only a few months!
We will keep you posted!
