The Human Rights Arts and Film Festival returns to Canberra again this year on the 28-30 May.

This festival aims to celebrate awareness of, and participation in Human Rights and will showcase a special selection of its best international documentaries over three nights.

One of the most highly talked about films at this year’s festival is Jon Shenk’s feature length documentary The Island President. This film follows the former Maldivian President, Mohammed Nasheed on his journey to take on the UN in Copenhagen and combat climate change in order to stop his nation from sinking under rising sea levels. This film also has a look at the Maldive’s struggle for democracy and its fight to stay above water as the lowest lying nation in the world.

For your chance to win one of five double passes to the opening night film, The Island President on Monday 28th May at 7.00pm, answer in 25 words or less: who was the President of the Maldives and star of the opening night film The Island President?

The competition closes on Wednesday 16th May at 5pm. Only winners will be notified.
