The 2014 edition of Canberra’s Multicultural Festival will for the first time allow audiences to take home the sounds of the weekend on the official compilation album which features a selection of the best bands that stream into the city from the 7th until the 9th of February 2014.

Hand picked and arranged to take the listener’s ears (and their hips/elbows/feet) on a journey that touches heavily on Afro Latin, funk and Caribbean roots, with side trips touching on samba, hip-hop, flamenco, and Ethio-soul; all sprinkled with a heavy dose of reggae and jazz. A little something-something for everyone – the urban poets, the funk connoisseurs, salsa junkies, jazz nerds, drum circle obsessives, the reggae heads and flamenco/samba purists.

The album features an informative 8-page full colour booklet with artwork by local designer Suzan Dlouhy, whose illustrations are based on photos of festival patrons taken during previous years. The album was also mastered by local musician and studio engineer Sam King and selected/compiled by Rafael Florez; “This collection has strong afro-latin focus and a fixation with polyrhythmic percussion and heavy brass [and features] artist that are at the top of their game […] I strongly urge you to delve deeper into their output as this is only a small sample of what they are capable of. Enjoy!”
