There are only 2 sleeps to go until Canberra transforms into a winter wonderland of melted cheese, mulled wine, and festive vibes.
From Thursday 3 July to Sunday 6 July, the Christmas in July Festival is back – this time with a bigger lineup, a new lakeside location, and all the comfort food your winter self is craving. Set against the scenic backdrop of Patrick White Lawns by Lake Burley Griffin, the festival promises four days of European-inspired celebration, indulgence, and winter magic.
What to eat
If you’re coming for the food like us, expect winter dishes at their finest.
Start with the La Choucroute Alsacienne, a classic Alsatian dish of sauerkraut, sausages, and potatoes – the perfect soul-warmer. Then, make your way to the Raclette Melted Cheese hut for gooey raclette poured over warm potatoes.
Cheese lovers can also treat themselves to a curated selection of French cheeses by Long Paddock Cheese, or grab a sweet, nutty artisan nougat from Nougat Limar for later.
For something seasonal and luxurious, don’t miss The Toasty Truffle, a pop-up by Crowne Plaza celebrating Canberra’s truffle season with rich, aromatic bites that will stop you in your tracks.
With over 50 food specialties on offer, you’ll want to come back every night it’s on.
What to Drink
Warm up from the inside out with a cup of mulled wine at the festival’s legendary Mulled Wine Bar, or head over to the Hot Chocolate Bar where traditional French canelés are served alongside velvety hot cocoa.
Feeling a little decadent? Try Chocolate in a Bottle – a sparkling French Blanc de Blanc infused with the essence of Belgian chocolate and hazelnut. It’s bubbly, rich, and unforgettable.
There will also be French wines, beers, and other winter-warming drinks to keep your hands warm all night.
What to Cheer
While the food and drinks on offer are important, the festival will also feature over 18 live shows, dance sets, and performances to keep the festive vibes flowing over the four days.
On Friday night, don’t miss The Baker Boys Band lighting up the stage with their performance. Saturday kicks off with The Spectrum Big Band at 4pm, followed by the massive Christmas Party with DJ Alex Carder from 9pm.
Adding a touch of festive magic, the 6th Position dancers will perform a Christmas-themed show on Saturday from 3pm to 4pm, and again on Sunday from 2pm to 3pm.
Between sets, gather at the Fire Pit Garden, toast marshmallows, sip warm drinks, and soak in the atmosphere under the stars.
The Christmas in July Festival runs from 3 to 6 July 2025 at Patrick White Lawns. Entry is free for all.
