Showcasing a range of produce from local businesses through a curated dish from each of its vendors, Verity Lane Market is hosting another unique event – Taste Local Week.

Running over ten days from Thursday 14 March, each of the Market’s six diverse vendors have come up with a special dish that features a locally grown or produced ingredient.

For Verity Lane’s longest-standing vendor, Pizza Artigiana, they have crafted a pizza using kangaroo prosciutto from Poacher’s Pantry.

“The prosciutto pairs perfectly with the mozzarella, rocket, gorgonzola, fresh figs and fig balsamic, both sourced from Hundred Acres Produce”, says the team.

Meanwhile, Seoul Chicken will be serving their Deluxe Burger with crispy chicken and fresh brioche buns from Canberra’s favourite Three Mills Bakery and Cocina Pura will be cooking a Creamy Chicken and Spinach Pasta with fresh spaghetti from Nonna Maria’s Pasta in Mitchell.

For something sweet, try Rasa Rosa’s Pineapple Fritters with cinnamon, vanilla ice cream and locally made honey from The Cook Grocer. Or, SuperBao for a sweet and gooey Sesame Ball with a sweet pumpkin filling and salted caramel dressing.

Lim Peh’s Wonton Noodles will also be preparing a Singaporean fruit salad side dish using fresh Green Cleo Apples from Tanbella Orchard in Pialligo.

“Taste Local Week encourages us to explore and support Canberra local businesses by using the fresh produce and ingredients made and grown right here by our very own Canberrans,” says Verity Lane Market Owner, Phillip Keir.

“Each dish has been uniquely crafted by the vendors to feature local ingredients while maintaining their cultural roots,” he says.

The Verity Bar is also joining in, curating a signature cocktail ‘The Underground’, featuring Canberra’s Underground Spirits gin with flavours of lime, mint and a little spice.

Taste Local Week will run from Thursday 14 to Saturday 23 March from 12pm to 2pm and 5pm to 9pm each day. Bookings can be made via Verity Lane’s website with walk-ins also accepted.
