Funky, earthy and incredibly rare. It’s Truffle season in Canberra, and second to hitting the slopes, truffle season is the best thing about winter. Throughout the season, local restaurants transform their menu to showcase some of Canberra’s finest truffles. These are truffles that are making a name for themselves worldwide, which we have access to at venues right across the City. If you haven’t tried a truffle yet, here are a few places to get your fix:
Sage Dining Rooms
Sage has partnered with The Truffle Farm to bring a special 8-course menu for $120pp. Running from June 4 – July 16, there is plenty of opportunity to taste some of Canberra’s best truffles. Sage runs a truffle degustation each year, it’s no secret the talented team know how to handle a truffle or two by now. Bookings recommended.
The Truffle Farm
For those who don’t know, there is a thriving truffle farm right in the heart of Canberra. This gem has put Canberra on the map as a serious competitor of truffles, stocking them worldwide. Locals have the luxury of enjoying them straight from their farm, or even foraging the rare ingredient themselves. The Farm is hosting Truffle Hunt + Degustation lunches and brunch throughout the three-month truffle season. Find out more of their website.
Otis Dining Room
To kickstart the 2019 truffle season, OTIS are running a 3-course truffle lunch menu 60pp or a 5 course truffle dinner menu 80pp. For those who don’t know what to expect from a truffle menu, think truffle magnums and taco with truffled beer tartare. Bookings are essential.

In partnership with local winery and truffle farmers, Hotel Kurrajong Canberra invites you to experience the unique flavours of truffle and perfectly blended wines at their first Truffle Degustation of the season. Over 5 courses you’ll taste and learn the story behind the produce and wine pairings. This event is in partnership with local winery and truffle partners including Long Rail Gully Wines and Macenmist Black Truffles. Tickets are $149.
Olims Bar & Bistro
July 13 4.30pm – 9.30pm
Enjoy an afternoon in Olims Bar & Bistro at the stunning Mercure Canberra to experience Truffle in July. Sample truffles from Macenmist Black Truffles as their chef creates a spread of truffle delights for you to choose as you wish. To complement the truffle extravaganza, taste your way through local wines from Lerida, Long Rail Gully and Mount Majura. Did we mention that this event is free?

Celebrate truffle season with a Gala Truffle Dinner created by the award-winning chefs at National Press Club. Their culinary expertise is renowned for sourcing fresh local produce and creating dishes of outstanding quality. Enjoy a delectable five-course meal featuring local Clear Range Truffles matched perfectly with Eden Road Wines to complete the palate.
