If you have wandered down Lonsdale Street lately then you have probably noticed the papered up walls of the old Ace Sushi hiding a venue dubbed as the ‘best thing since sliced bread’. Well, sliced bread is sure to be an element of the place when Canberra’s first toast bar, Toasted, opens its doors in next month.

To find out a little more about the place we had a chat with owner Brittany Lindores to talk all things toast, the opening and menu that is about to become a local favourite, one slice at a time!

Tell me a little bit about Toasted?

Toasted is going to be Canberra’s first toast bar. What is a toast bar? Well, we will specialise in all things toast, of course. Ranging from the simple PB & J to elaborate toasty toppings like the decadent Smores toast.

We are only a small venue but we will be serving up an eclectic range of tasty treats, alongside the humble piece of toast. Canberrans will also be able to order toasties, acai bowls, waffles and a great cup of coffee from new local roast Kyo.

What are some of the menu specialities?

As I mentioned we are going to serve up an eclectic menu but there are a few favourites. These include the gluten free doughnut flavoured waffles, fruit toast with almond butter, banana, honey and a nut sprinkle, the classic Reuben sandwich made with pulled beef and a three cheese toasty that is sure to get a few mouths watering.

When is your expected open date?

We are well under way with the interior of the place and will soon be pulling down the partitions as we plan on opening our doors at the beginning of August!

What can Canberrans expect?

Get ready to turn your morning breakfast or boring work lunch into something spectacular that is affordable, quick and easy.
