When you think of summer, you think of Shakespeare…right?  Well in February you will, thanks to Shakespeare By The Lakes, a series of free public performances of the Bard’s plays during Valentine’s Day Week.

Shakespeare By The Lakes makes theatre freely accessible to Canberrans of all walks of life, with free outdoor performances held in parks over summer.

Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing will take to the Tuggeranong Town Park Community Stage on Wednesday 14 and Thursday 15 February, and the play is best seen with a blanket or a picnic in tow.

The event will feature top nosh from 5.30pm courtesy of wine bar Pop Inn, Canberra Bagel Van, ShotClock Expresso, Bombolini Doughnuts and the Cannoli Brothers. Shakespeare By The Lakes will also feature live music from 5.45pm, before the curtains go up at 6.30pm.

By performing for free and out of doors in multiple locations, Shakespeare By The Lakes aims to reach audiences who might not be able to afford a theatre ticket, who might be less likely to travel to a theatre or may be uncomfortable in a more traditional theatre setting.

Shakespeare By The Lakes is a locally produced theatre series that celebrates the talents of local Canberra artists in all aspects of the production.
