Don’t miss Sydney based The Crooked Fiddle Band who are coming to Canberra as part of their new album “Moving Pieces Of The Sea” tour.
The band consists of Jess Randall on violin, nyckelharpa and vocals, Gordon Wallace on guitar, bouzouki, mandolin, cittern and vocals, Mark Stevens on double bass, charango and vocals & Joe Gould on drum kit, percussion, guitar and vocals.
The band has sometimes called their music ‘chainsaw folk’ – but others have called it “14th century Romanian metal”, “thrash folk”, “whirlwind gypsy” and even “what Sepultura would sound like if they provided the soundtrack to a hyperactive version of O Brother Where Art Thou.” So whilst the search continues for a name for their genre, the band remains mainly concerned with making music with melody, energy and intensity.
The show is on Friday, 6 December 2013 at The Polish Club and we have two double passes up for grabs! To be in the running use the form to the right and tell us ‘why you want to win tickets to see The Crooked Fiddle Band live’! We will draw the winners on Friday, 29 November 2013.
“It is rare to hear genuinely original music these days, but when you listen to
The Crooked Fiddle Band, your mouth will drop open.” – Sydney Morning Herald
