SYTYCD has been the talk of the town. Coming into the last week of the show and with the announcement of the SYTYCD Australia Live Tour coming to Canberra, I’m very excited that I get the chance to chat to former-Canberran and Top 10 contestant, Timomatic.

A bit of a crowd ‘fave’ Tim presented himself as the man with the performing package. Firstly a singer, second a dancer, Timomatic’s talent and smooth charisma had countless standing ovations throughout the series.

If you had to choose, would you be a dancer or a musician?
A musician. The dancing can always accompany the music, but you can’t be a singing dancer. ‘…and for my next trick, I’m just going to whip out this microphone!’

Tell me about being a Canberra boy, what does that mean to you?
I lived in Canberra for 9 years; I was a South side boy. It’s cool place, very peaceful. All the action happens in the suburbs! It’s house parties and people goin’ around to get Goodberrys. That’s Canberra for me.

What do you miss most about Canberra?
My girlfriend! She’s still there…

What did SYTYCD teach you?
Dealing with pressure. Having to bite the bullet, learn a new routine from a new genre in 3 days, and not having time to freak out. I didn’t give myself an option to stuff up, I just got on with it.

What’s Natalie Bassingwaithe really like?
Natalie’s a monster! She’s so cool and so talented. I learnt a lot from her too. She would do performances between SYTYCD shows, fly to another city, do an interview, do a show and then she was back hosting the next day. She put everything into it, she is inspiring.

Favourite contestant?
B.J. My homeboy.

Who will win?
Talia. She’s got what it takes.

What’s next for Timomatic?
Master Chef Australia. My wooden spoon is going to have a mic on the end!

No, really?!
Ok, ok… next is music, music, music. Concentrating on that, getting the CD together and organising my own Timomatic show.

SYTYCD Live Tour Australia is coming to the AIS, and you’ll have the opportunity to catch the Top 10 perform all the favourite routines from across the TV series plus some brand new choreographed numbers, in an action-packed concert event.

Last year’s tour was hugely successful all around Australia with fans loving the chance to see the Top Ten dancers in person on the concert stage. The 2009 show will again feature video packaged highlights throughout the evening to compliment the incredible talent on stage.
