2016 marks the first year that local snowfield Corin Forest welcomes skiers and snowboarders onto the slopes. The custom designed beginner slope is complete with a 75-metre long conveyor belt ski lift and a 5,000-metre square slope, lightly dusted with snow produced by the retreat’s cutting-edge snowmaking technology.

Aimed at beginners and those just looking to have some fun in the snow, Corin Forest is complete with ski rentals, ski school and an amazing atmosphere that will have you mastering the slopes in no time. The snowfield’s#myfirstsnow experience is available seven days a week to learn to ski or snowboard – including equipment rental for under $100.

The slopes include a strict 150 persons per ski slope session, and to help you secure your spot on the slope you can pre-book your time on the slopes online.

From Canberra, Corin Forest is just under an hour’s drive, making it an easy commute to and from the snowfields.

However, if you’re worried about where you’ll fit the thermos in your already overloaded Prado, stress less because there are plenty of beverage options at the Corin Forest cafe. Take a break and warm up with a hot chocolate in front of the toasty open fireplace – and maybe even split a wood fired pizza!

After all the snow, we’re sure that you’ll want to try something different. All aboard the Alpine Slide! Descending 1.2 kilometres through the beautiful Mountain Ash forest, this is a metal track down the mountain that allows you control your speed with a lever at the front of your cart. Slide down at your own pace or rip down as fast as you can for a thrill to end the day.

At the end of the day we’re sure that you’ll want to head home and jump into a warm bath. But if you’re a tad more adventurous there is a camping ground at Woods Reserve, just six kilometres away from the Corin Forest snowfields.
