When a trip to the alluring Victorian wine region of Rutherglen is off the cards, no need to worry, they are once again bringing their award-winning wines right to your back door. Yes, that’s right, Rutherglen in the City is back!…And they had us at 14 cellar doors.
Taking over Pialligo Estate for two days during August, the Winemakers of Rutherglen are pulling together the best of the best from their wine region, packing it up, and coming to Canberra to showcase them through winemaker chats, masterclasses and food and wine pairings.
Showcasing more than 100 wines, tickets include a three-hour session with access to masterclasses, entertainment, food and unlimited wine tastings in your own Plumm glass. Wines you can expect include All Saints Estate, De Bortoli Estate, Pfeiffer Wines and Warrabilla Wines, and they will all be available to purchase for those who find a drop (or two) they particularly like and want to take home. To ensure you’re not walking around with bags full of bottles, they will also be running a Wine Concierge service where you can leave your wine purchases with the winemaker and they will be collected and stored in one handy location for you to pick up on your way out.
For those wanting to learn more about the winemaking process and the history of Rutherglen, join in masterclasses on Rhone Valley varietals, Muscat classification, sparkling wines, Muscat blending and Durif.
Then, if you want the full experience, book a table at the Rutherglen Wine Dinner and indulge in a five-course menu from Pialligo Estate with paired premium award-winning wines from the region.
