Some festivals are sprawling national tours that work with global stars on a scale that takes a small army to host. Others are more intimate – focusing on a specific community a supporting local artists. It is on this smaller, more intimate scale that ‘Rock the Cot’ fits in. Held from 13th -15th November at Rose Cottage on the Monaro Highway, this is a festival that very much suits the venue’s philosophy of nurturing and promoting local talent.

Those who have come to love Rose Cottage will be very familiar with owner Mark’s efforts over the last five years to ensure that Canberra talent finds a place to play and hone its craft. Almost every night of the week, Rose Cottage hosts to all sorts of performers – from musicians to singers to comedians – at no cost to customers. This is a great sign of the sense of community that Rose cottage has developed for both performers and its regulars.

Which brings us to ‘Rock the Cot’ – a three day festival that celebrates many of the local artists that have frequented the Rose Cottage stage over the last 12 months. Crowd favourites such as Dale Huddleston, Third Party, Disorganised Crime, Col Finley will be ready to entertain, as well as newcomers including The Cottage Collective. It’s a fantastic mix of the exciting and the familiar, and promises to surprise all those who attend with the high quality of Canberra talent.

As always at Rose Cottage, ‘Rock the Cot’ is very much focused on being an event for everyone. The entertainment will run all day and all night, and there is plenty on offer to keep the kids occupied, including a jumping castle, face painting and more.

The best news of all? ‘Rock the Cot’ is completely free. Be sure to grab a crew together and head over to Rose Cottage for what promises to be a fun-filled weekend of great food and entertainment.

And isn’t that what ‘The Cot’ does best?
